Stories in Design: Empire Of The Vampire

Some stories linger long after you close the book, Empire of the Vampire is one of them.

Dark, brutal, and emotionally charged, the world Jay Kristoff creates felt less like something to read and more like something to step into.

This series of design posts was an exploration of how narrative can shape visual identity. Rather than creating literal illustrations, I focused on mood, atmosphere, and emotion, translating the weight of the story into colour, texture, and composition.

Deep shadows, muted tones, and stark contrasts became a visual shorthand for the violence, faith, and humanity woven throughout the novel.

Have you read Empire of the Vampire? Let me know!
