Rebranding After Maternity Leave

Coming back to work after maternity leave gave me something I didn't expect: space to rethink what I wanted my creative business to become.
For years I'd worked under names like By Katie and ksr design. They served their purpose, but as I grew as a designer, illustrator, reader, and now a mum, I found myself wanting something that felt bigger than just me. I wanted a brand with longevity, something that could evolve alongside my interests and the work I create in the future.
One thing that became really clear during my maternity leave was how important books are to me. Reading became my little escape during nap times, late nights, and the chaos of first-time motherhood. At the same time, design has always been my career, my creative outlet, and the thing I naturally return to whenever I have an idea.
That's where Tales Creative was born.
The name brings together the two things I love most: storytelling and design. It's a space where branding, illustration, books, and creativity can comfortably exist side by side. It also gave me the perfect excuse to launch a dedicated bookstagram, where I share book recommendations, reviews, reading updates, and a growing collection of book inspired prints and products.
The new branding reflects everything I wanted the business to feel like: playful, fearless, inspiring, and full of personality. It's colourful, a little quirky, and doesn't take itself too seriously, because creativity should be fun.
This rebrand isn't just a new logo or colour palette. It's a fresh chapter. One that gives me room to grow, explore new ideas, and build a creative business that feels like me.
